Weber 45010001 Spirit II E-310 Liquid Propane Gas Grill Review
WEBER has made some of the best gas and charcoal grills for close to thirty years. In its price range, WEBER grills offer the most bang for the buck than any other grill on the market. Three years ago, WEBER reintroduced their basic, affordable Spirit line of grills to compete with more modestly priced competitors. In 2018, this redesign offered WEBER the opportunity to accommodate WEBER’s vast line of accessories. Here is a WEBER Spirit E-310 review of WEBER’s entry-level model.
The Spirit E-310 is made with black porcelain-enameled grates housed in a light hood of porcelain-enameled steel. The single door cart offers a stainless steel work surface with cast aluminum end caps with integrated tool hooks. The unit rests on four lockable casters ensuring the grill is both mobile, yet parkable for stabile grilling.
The Spirit E-310 is the largest model in the WEBER Spirit line. It offers these features:
COOKING SPACE – 529 square inches of total cooking space provides plenty of room to cook for larger crowds. The grill alone features 424 square inches with an additional 105 square inches in the warming rack area. The unit also offers two fold-down stainless steel side tables to keep the chef organized and ready.
INTERNAL FUEL TANK -WEBER’s internal fuel tank gauge gives an approximate indication of fuel level by tank weight, so you can discover when you need a new tank prior to it expiring. By housing the unit inside the single door unit, it allows the Spirit E-310 to be more compact for smaller spaces and is more aesthetically pleasing.
BURNER CAPACITY -The Spirit E-310 has two top ported linear burners producing a total of 26,500 BTUs, along with three stainless steel burners for a total output of 32,000 BTU. This design provides powerful heat and even temperatures. This three-burner system allows for optimal cooking performance usually found in grills with higher price points.
WEBER PATENTED FLAVORIZER BARS -WEBER Flavorizer Bars vaporize food drippings to produce classic grill marks on meat and vegetables while adding smoky flavor reserved almost exclusively to smokers and charcoal grills. The bars also serve in reducing annoying flare ups which at best can burn food, and at worst burn the user.
ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM -The Spirit E-310 has a battery charged electronic ignition system. This means starting the grill is as easy as pushing a button. Other entry line grills require matches or lighters to spark the gas which can lead to unexpected blasts of flames. With the electronic system, the burners light effortlessly making start up safer and easier.
A big change for this little grill was the reconfiguration of the burner layout. The control knobs used to be on the right side. The burners, subsequently, ran from side to side in order to effectively align with the control knobs. The new configuration of the Spirit E-310 has the control knobs on the front of the grill. This allows the burners to connect from front to back which not only frees up workspace on the right side shelf, but ultimately provides better cooking performance when not using the entire grill. WEBER’s higher end models are designed this way to optimize the your grill’s cooking performance.
The Spirit line is made by WEBER in China. As a result, it uses inferior stainless steel, and is very basic in design. The Spirit E-310, however, is larger and more versatile than the smaller two burner models. There is no unnecessary stainless steel incorporated in order to keep the price down. Regardless, the E-310 is the gem of the line. The porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates are substantial enough to work in concert with WEBER Flavorizer Bars to create excellent grill marks while remaining sturdy and easy to clean. The price of WEBER products reflect the company’s commitment to overall durability of its grills and the Spirit E-310 is no exception.
Well-designed grill and burners
10 years warranty
Large cooking area
Complicated setup instructions
Natural gas requiring additional setup
Not as ruggedly constructed as it could be
For a WEBER gas grill, the price of the E-310 is relatively low. This basic 3-burner grill runs around $500 USD. Is it worth the price tag? Without question, there are a number of grills on the market that are less expensive. While the Weber Spirit E-310 is made in China using cheaper material for its various components, it still is built exceptionally well compared to grills of similar size and function. Not to mention, WEBER offers a much better warranty and customer service than other leading grill manufacturers. While more expensive than comparable grills, it offers a higher quality. With the WEBER Spirit E-310, consumers get their money’s worth.
The WEBER Spirit E-310 is a well built, easy to use gas grill. For an entry level grill, you get the quality of which WEBER has become known for. This grill is perfect for small spaces. Unlike some of the larger models, its compactness makes it easy to move around enough to move around. You can use the grill for one or two people, or find it is plenty of roomy to cook for larger crowds. When you own a WEBER, it is difficult to cook on anything else as most other grills can not compare in regards to overall quality. The cast iron grates retain heat, reduce flare ups and add flavor along with even cooking and superior grill marks for a gas grill. The WEBER Spirit E-310’s warming rack is perfect for keeping food with different cooking times, warmed and ready to go. The electronic ignition makes starting this grill exceptionally easy. No need to deal with lighters or matches. Shelves that you can fold, can be minimized to conserve your space or be pulled up to hold your grilling tools, dishes and sauces. The internal, weight calibrated fuel gauge will allow you to track gas levels, so there is no hassle of running out prior to your meal being completed. WEBER grills are not cheap, but are quality grills designed to handle the needs of the user with tremendous efficiency.
Hopefully this WEBER Spirit E-310 review cleared all of your questions, however, it is a very basic, durable, serviceable gas grill, which you should consider. The 2013 redesign of this affordable line, offers significant upgrades adding considerable value to the previous Spirit models. Although this is WEBER’s entry level line, it is still relatively more expensive than some of the other cheaper grill brands. The essence of this review is you get what you pay for, as the old adage says. With this entry level WEBER, the quality, durability and exceptional performance make it well worth the price. With proper care, this is a grill that could last a lifetime.
