Smoked Mozzarella Cheese Pizza Sticks – a quick and easy recipe using cold smoked cheese and a few other easy ingredients for a delicious meal or snack!
Here’s a quick easy recipe from my Daughter-in-Law Amanda for Smoked Mozzarella Cheese Pizza Sticks. A few weeks back I gave my son Matt some mozzarella cheese that I cold smoked earlier in the year. Previously that morning I was rummaging through our refrigerator and came across several Food-Saver air tight packages of cheese. I completely forgot that I had them! I was pleasantly surprised when I opened one up and it tasted as good as ever. Knowing that I didn’t want this to go to waste I gave Matt a few packages to try out as well. Below is one of the recipes using the cold smoked cheese.
My first attempt and cold-smoking cheese I made the mistake of eating it too soon. I did not allow the cheese to mellow out or “age” at all which resulted in the cheese having an over-powering smoke flavor. I later learned that after the cheese is cold smoked, to place it in a vacuumed sealed bag and let rest for several weeks. After several weeks I noted that indeed the taste did mellow out and the smoke flavor was not as prominent at all. And now for the quick and easy recipe: Smoked Mozzarella Cheese Pizza Sticks
Using your favorite brand of Pizza Crust, cut it into eight or so pieces. Next, stuff with your favorite pizza ingredients. Amanda used real pepperoni and the smoked mozzarella cheese. Roll up the dough into sticks and top with butter and Italian herbs. Bake according to the brand’s directions which in this case was about 15 minutes at 375°. How’s that for quick and easy! Here is the end result! Great for a meal, a snack or a delicious side if you are having a light salad for lunch or dinner!
